Parents:   Understanding and Supporting Gifted Teens

Are You Concerned About Your Gifted Teen?

My close association with hundreds of gifted learners and their parents over many years of teaching as Gifted Education Co-ordinator is supported by a Masters Degree and research in gifted education. I have extensive experience in Secondary schools as Gifted Education Advisor.

I am available as a consultant for parents and students. I can support you through:

Parent Consultations:  Face-to-face or telephone.

Individual Student Assistance
This has three phases:
1.  Parent Interview

2.  Student Interview: personal profile. Assessments appropriate to the situation, which might include cognitive assessment, and/or personalised needs assessments that address social-emotional issues such as perfection or high sensitivity as well as academic needs or barriers to learning, such as dyslexia.

3.   Followup Interview: with parents and students where the findings (included in a written report) are explained and strategies and recommendations are discussed.I can also interpret and help you understand National Standards reports in Numeracy & Literacy, and standardised tests that schools use such as asTTle, e-asTTle, and PATs.

*  Student Consultations: I can support gifted teens in understanding themselves and their giftedness, and in finding ways to turn their vulnerabilities into strengths.
