Gifted Education Professional Development

Are you interested in increasing the number of
Merits and Excellences your more able students achieve?

I can work with you to:

   *   Analyse data to establish which teachers would most benefit from professional development to support the learning of   your more able students (no charge)
   * Provide professional development in higher order thinking strategies that assist students to produce more sophisticated responses in exams and other differentiated learning techniques. (Teachers are given personalised support based upon a needs analysis).
   *   Increase teacher expertise through modelling good practice in student workshops (e.g. with advanced classes, scholarship classes, or Future Problem Solving programme groups).
   *   Provide professional development which assists teachers to identify gifted underachievers (high achievers are easy to identify - gifted underachievers are not).
   *   Identify the learning needs of individual gifted underachievers or high achievers and give recommendations as to how those needs might best be met.

Are you developing or reviewing your school’s provisions for Gifted and Talented Learners?

I can work with you to:

* Analyse your current provisions and future development needs with an in-depth analysis of school development in gifted education (no charge)
*    Assist with the development of long term action plans,
*    Provide professional development to teachers and key teams in:
             - understanding gifted pedagogy and research with links to the NZC.
             - policy development
             - identification policy and procedures
             - school-wide provisions, departmental provisions and in-class provisions
             - Unit development, including differentiated learning with a focus on more able students, and with strong links to the NZC
             - Identification of, and provisions for gifted Maori and Pasifika students.
*     Provide one-to-one support of gifted education coordinators.

Professional development often involves teachers in a Professional Learning team environment in a manner that empowers them to run their own staff meetings and implement change in their department or faculty.
It may also occur in the form of one-to-one support, teacher coaching, full or half-day workshops, seminars, staff meetings, or keynotes.
